Hello adrenaline seekers and welcome to True Guts, which is a blog that I set up a few years back so I could document my adventures through the world of extreme sports and find out more ideas for things I should try to get that adrenaline pumping and really feel alive. My name is Kevin Oldman and this is my story.
I started this website a few years back because I have always needed to get out there and push life to the limits. It all started for me when I was three-years old. My dad took it upon himself to buy me a mini-motorcycle and I got my first taste of real speed before I even knew what it meant. I have always remembered that sensation of going faster than I ever thought possible and it’s something that I have been chasing with every action that I’ve taken in life ever since.
Whenever I hear of something exciting and a little dangerous, I need to get out there and try it. I don’t feel like I’m really living my life unless I’m pushing the boundaries of what people are capable of and there is nothing like the thrill of staring death in the face and flying right past it.
That’s what extreme sports has always offered me and it’s why I’ve been right there to take any opportunity I’ve had to push life to its limits and try new things.
I’ve tried almost every extreme sport out there, so it should come as no surprise that I have a few favorites. On any given day you will probably find me either doing or preparing for some of the following:
- Cliff Jumping
- Helicopter Riding
- Mountain Biking
- Rock Climbing
Motorcycling will always be my first love – thanks dad! – but I just have to try everything and I’ve gotten pretty good, if I do say so myself.
Showing Off For My Friends
I’ll admit it right out of the gate – I like to show off a little bit. That’s why I started this site in the first place, because it gave me the opportunity to talk more about the things I get up to and the rushes I experience each and every day I try to push myself that little bit further.
This site offered me the chance to share all of that with my friends, offering me a place to talk with them about my travels and adventures whenever I’m not around to do it myself. Plus, if it inspired somebody else to get out there and give this stuff a try I was all for it. After all, I love to share everything and there’s few experiences in life that are better for me than seeing a friend of mine be blown away by some new sport that I’ve introduced them to.
My love for extreme sports has defined my entire life. It’s the reason why I’m as fit as I am, the reason I wake up in the morning and it’s hopefully going to lead to a great career at some point in my life.
The site is named True Guts because that is what it takes to do what I do. Extreme sports push you to face your fears and conquer them, which is something that I’ve always been driven by. In many ways they are a metaphor for life and teach us that no matter how insurmountable the obstacle, there is always a way to scale it if we push harder.
My Vision For The Site
True Guts started out as a blog like so many others do. It may have ended up being consigned to that portion of the web where forgotten blogs go to die were it not for the passion that I bring to what I do and write about every single day.
I was blessed to be born into a wealthy family that has been able to support me in what I do, but the site has allowed me to stand on my own two feet and make a few ice cream tips from what I love doing most.
My vision for the future is to build the audience of adrenaline seekers that come to the site every month, making it a viable choice for businesses who wish to advertise products and services in the extreme sports niche. Maybe those ice cream tips will become a larger source of income in the future!
